We organise several events throughout the year and so keep an eye on this page and on our Facebook page for updates about upcoming events! These include our Spring and Autumn Tea Dances, Summer Picnics and booked events.
Jane Austen's 250th Birthday Celebrations at National Trust's Belton House
Bonnets and breeches are very excited to announce that we will be performing to and providing talks for visitors to National Trust's Belton House during their Jane Austen's 250th Birthday celebrations throughout June.
We will be there between 11:30am and 3pm on:
- Sunday 1st June
- Sunday 8th June
- Thursday 12th June
- Thursday 19th June
- Saturday 28th June
Come and find us and say hello! We shall be performing indoors in the Saloon and outside in the Dutch Garden, or you may find us promenading around the grounds. We will also be providing talks about life in the Regency era so come along to find out more.
There will be lots to see and do during the celebrations, including discovering more about Jane Austen, and about the filming of the BBC's 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice which took place at Belton House!
We can't wait to see you there!

Byron Festival at Newstead Abbey - Sunday 29th June 2025
We are delighted to be performing once again for the Hucknall Byron Festival, and this time we will be performing at his home - Newstead Abbey - on Sunday 29th June 2025.
The festival takes place from 10am to 4pm, and we will be performing to visitors at various times.
Do come along to say hello and find out more about the famous Lord Byron!
"Heralded by many as the greatest Romantic poet of his time, Byron lived at Newstead Abbey between 1808 and 1814. See personal items, such as furniture, letters, manuscripts and portraits, plus his gilt wood bed, pistol and the desk at which he wrote much of his finest work." (Newstead Abbey website)

Summer picnic - Newstead Abbey
Our annual summer picnic will take place again at Newstead Abbey on Sunday 10th August 2025.

Belton House Community Festival - September 2025
We are extremely excited to have been asked back to the Belton House Community Festival again this year. We thoroughly enjoyed it last September and are overjoyed to be able to perform on their stage again in front of an iconic local landmark.
The whole event is FREE ENTRY so do come along and explore the wonderful house and grounds, whilst also enjoying the entertainment and stalls on offer.

Trafalgar Day Tea Dance - Sunday 19th October 2025
We will be hosting our 7th tea dance once again around the anniversary of Trafalgar Day.

The Eve of Waterloo Ball - Saturday 13th June 2026
It may seem a long way off, but to celebrate the incredible 250th anniversary of the Newark Town Hall , Bonnets and Breeches Dance Society are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting our very first ball! As the date also coincides with the build up to the Battle of Waterloo we have decided to theme it around the battle and call it 'The Eve of Waterloo Ball'.
Date: Saturday 13th June 2026
Venue: Newark Town Hall
Time: 7-11pm
Attire: Regency
Musicians: Vicki Swan and Jonny Dyer
A food buffet will be provided during a break.
Ticket details will be made available in mid-2025 so keep your eyes peeled!
